Pan American Veterinary Laboratories is a Texas Corporation located in Lexington TX. Founded in 1992, PAVL is a leading Veterinary Laboratory serving clients throughout the United States, with affiliate offices in Brazil and Argentina.

In 1994 PAVL joined with Dr. Leonel Mendoza at Michigan State University to continue Dr. Mendoza’s work to diagnose and treat Pythiosis in horses and dogs. More recently Lagenidium and Paralagenidium, related Oomycetes have been shown to cause very similar disease. PAVL has developed and offers ELISA blood tests for the rapid diagnosis of these diseases in several species.

In 1999 the Pythium Immunotherapeutic product was patented by Michigan State University where Dr. Mendoza teaches and conducts research. In 2003 PAVL licensed the marketing rights for this product from MSU. A USDA license was obtained by to manufacture Pythium allergen extract early in 2005. PAVL continues to work on this Immunotherapeutic product.
